Color Washing: A staple of faux finishing whereby a tinted glaze is brushed onto a painted wall producing a beautifully subtle effect.
Craquelure: A cracked finish simulating aged paint or varnish.
Faux Bois: A French term for painted simulated wood of any kind, from oak to mahogany to rosewood.
Faux Leather: A finish involving a dark basecoat and a chocolate colored or metallic glaze to simulate burnished leather.
Faux Marble: From White Cararra to Black and Gold to Rojo Caliente, marble has been simulated since classical times.
Faux Suede: A low sheen, tactile finish that imparts rich color.
Stippling: This effect is subtle and mottled, and is perfect for painted trim, carved architectural elements, and ceiling medallions.
Striae: A vertically "dragged" glaze finish that provides subtle color variation.
