FAQs
Can I purchase products through you?
At this time we are busy bringing expert installation to the field and not
distributing products. This focus allows us to give clients the best possible
service.
What can be resurfaced with your systems?
Formica counters, wood, cement, brick, tile and much more. Anything that
we can bond overlayment to can be stained!
Will my concrete appear exactly like the samples shown on this web
site?
Due the different make up of the concrete from job to job,
the stain may not exactly match the pictures shown. This is simply the art
of acid staining, and what will make your surface one of a kind! We install
stain samples on-site when possible to show color options, but variations will
always
occur between approved samples and the finish that we
apply, as well
as
within different areas of the finish.
Will the stain produce an uniform color?
No, the stain will not overcome any color variances in your concrete. These
natural variances are what give the marbling effect. A solid color stain
can be used to achieve a uniform color, not acid stain.
I've seen an acrylic concrete stain at my local home improvement store. Is
this the same as yours? If not, how do they differ?
No. The acrylic stains available through retailers are basically a tinted sealer.
An acrylic clear sealer with paint pigments added. When using acrylic stains,
you are
being
tricked
into
painting your concrete.
Our acid staining penetrates the surface and reacts with the cement and minerals
within the concrete to chemically change the color of the concrete's surface. How long will the staining last?
If the stain is properly installed, it will not wear off unless you wear off
the top layer of your concrete because the stain is in the floor not on it.
A regular dust mopping and general cleaning practices will preserve the sealer
and wax coatings.
What kind of maintenance is needed for the floors?
Mop and water! That is usually all it takes for clean up. Some of our floors
will have a maintenance coat of wax that may require polishing or re-waxing
over
time depending on the desired finish and wear. What is the
best time to do the floors in a new construction application?
We always try to be in after plumbing, and before any trim stage has
started. We always require
our floors are protected from other trades once we are done.
For outside concrete, we always require 28 days of curing prior to
staining. Topcoats can only be applied in fair weather.
How long does installation take?
This always varies from floor to floor depending on the chosen finish.
By rule of thumb we go by 1 day per 200sf, and 1-2 additional days if overlayment
is installed. On average most projects take 4-5 days. How does the cost compare to having carpet or other materials installed?
While the cost per square foot can be comparable to some
tile or hardwood, you have to keep in mind the unique, custom finish you
are achieving. All our estimates include materials and
labor.
How long before I can walk on my floor, or use the overlayed surface?
You will be able to walk on your floor within 12 hours after the final topcoat
application. Most surfaces such as counters can be used within 12 hours as
well. Keep in mind that final curing of overlayment can take
up to 2 weeks - use gently!
When can I move furniture or heavy items back in?
It takes up to 72 hours for the sealer to fully cure. We recommend felt pads
on the bottom of heavy object and furniture.
Can I place rubber backed rugs or non-open matting
or pads under my rugs?
This is not recommended; doing so could result in permanent discoloration
in the area’s they were placed due to trapped moisture/ vapors or sweating
conditions.
How durable are the stains and overlayed floors?
Our sealers are extremely durable. However, we recommend that you take
the same precautions that you would with a finely finished floor of any
kind.
